Cook County Dryer Vent Cleaning Wizard Says Teaching the Children can be Effective

Dryer fire story where a first grader was honored as a “Young Hero” is evidence that children listen and learn when lessons are presented in a fun and interesting way

Chicago, IL – The Cook County Dryer Vent Cleaning Wizard cannot say enough about dryer vent maintenance and fire prevention. Mory Matias, owner of Dryer Vent Wizard works to promote his message about the importance of professional dryer vent installation and regular dryer vent cleaning to minimize the risk of a dryer fire.

The clothes dryer is a simple machine that requires heat and air flow to do its job efficiently. When airflow is restricted by lint accumulation or improper dryer vent installation, the dryer will continue to produce heat which cannot escape, so clothes take longer to dry and the system overheats. This situation causes much higher energy bills and a dryer fire when left unchecked.

The Wizard (http://www.dryerventcleaningchicago.net/) is concerned with the frequency of dryer fires and saddened every time he hears about a family losing their home or even their lives. The clothes dryer is so easy to operate that even a child can do it, so they also need to be taught about dryer safety. The following report is evidence that teaching children about dryer vent cleaning could be most effective.

Mory recalls a dryer fire that could have been most devastating for a couple with 4 small children who were home when the fire started. Thankfully, everyone escaped safely, thanks to a small child that listens carefully and follows directions.

Lemont, IL: A 1st grader was honored for her prompt response to a dryer fire in her home. She was presented with a “Young Hero” award at the Lemont Fire District Station One. Two days earlier, the child had attended a fire prevention talk with the Daisy Girl Scout troop where she learned how to react to a fire in her home. The message was simple, “get out and stay out.” She combined this educational experience with instructions from her parents as to where to meet if there was ever a fire. The child followed all directions and waited on the neighbor’s porch while her parents got her three younger siblings out of the house.

Knowing what to do in the event of a fire is important; however, preventing the fire is even more important. The Wizard was impressed with the young child’s behavior and the fact that children seem to listen quite well when the material is presented in an interesting way. This story could have had a sad ending if the child would have panicked, making it more difficult for the couple to get the three younger ones out safely.

Mory and fellow Wizards across the nation work to encourage public awareness on the importance of professional dryer vent service.
